Why use SPF or Sunscreens?

S.P.F. Sun Protection Factor. It is the thing that everything from regular sunscreens, BB creams to foundations have. But what does it mean? How does it work? And, most importantly, why is it important?

Sunscreens or sunblocks or SPF are creams, lotions, gels, sprays, or other products that either deflect or absorb the sun’s ultraviolet rays. These are of two types…
a. Physical sunscreens like zinc oxide or titanium oxide which protect by deflecting the sun’s UV rays.
b. Chemical sunscreens like UV organic filters which absorb and reduce the UV rays thus protecting the skin.
That is the technical stuff… now onto the fun stuff. Why? Why wear another layer of… thing, on my skin? I used to be one of those people too. I used to say “Oh I don’t mind if I get a little tan. I don’t want to wear sunscreen” But then one of my favourite YouTuber's, Matilda from https://www.instagram.com/matildaonvideo/ mentioned that it can help prevent skin cancer and I was like “WHAT!?”
That led me to do my research and found out that sunscreen, aside from preventing a mean tan, also has a lot of fo benefits when it comes to anti-ageing. I know as an 18-year-old, that should not be one of my concerns, but, what can I do? it just is. Sunscreens help prevent wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, and sagging of skin as you grow old.
“Right now, I work from home all day. I don’t need sunscreen for that right?” well… I’ve got news for you. UV rays can pass through windows and clouds and plus there is the added possibility that whatever lighting you are using is also emitting harmful rays that can damage your skin. So, it’s better to not take risks and just put on something with SPF.
“But Janki, sunscreens are too sticky and uncomfortable!”
Yeah sis, that’s what I used to think too. But then I came across a range of products like BB creams, foundations and tinted moisturizers that have SPF and it opened a whole new world to me. These products are great multitaskers and also a bang for their buck. So, you want some recommendations? Well, here you go…

Chambor Wet and Dry foundation - https://amzn.clnk.in/ApU
VLCC brightening lotion SPF 50 - https://amzn.clnk.in/ApW
These are the three products that I have used and find to be very comfortable and effective. So, put on some sunscreen, put on a smile, and face the world.
